Finally, CYBER GRU: Russian military intelligence in cyberspace<\/strong>, the new book that I announced some days ago, was published last Friday, July 4th. In the previous post<\/a>, the structure of the book was presented, together with its table of contents<\/a>. Both the editor and the printer have worked quickly, and it is ready earlier than expected. As stated, this book tries to shed some light on the activities in cyberspace of one of the world\u2019s most capable and opaque intelligence agencies: the Russian GRU.

The paperback edition of the book is available on Amazon<\/a> through print-on-demand, as well as directly from the Naullibres<\/a> website. According to my editor, printing the book locally and shipping it out of Spain afterward would be significantly more expensive. Just as a point of interest: the print-on-demand edition has a few minor differences compared to the local one. First, it is entirely in black and white, while the local edition includes some pages in color. Second, the local edition is slightly smaller (150 \u00d7 225 mm) than the Amazon\u2019s one (152.4 \u00d7 228.6 mm, or 6 \u00d7 9 inches). This is because Amazon only allows fixed sizes for its print-on-demand books. These aren\u2019t major differences, just minor adjustments you need to consider when working with publishers. Just FYI.

Of course, this book was written in LaTeX. Once it was finished, I didn\u2019t want to spend time converting it to an e-book format like EPUB, so the e-book format is PDF, with its pros and cons. Although there are tools to automatically produce different e-book formats, generating a decent e-book version is not immediate. However, Amazon doesn\u2019t accept e-books in PDF format, so if you are interested in the digital version of this book (which is much cheaper), you’ll need to get it through Google Books<\/a>.

All this stuff about editions, printings, and so on is chaotic for those of us who don\u2019t work in that world. Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.
